Game Classes at Parsons for the Fall of 2012

Next semester Parsons students interested in game development will have a wide variety of courses from which to choose.  This is the current list of game-related courses for the Fall of 2012.  We will come back to update it as more classes are added.

Game Design 1

Thursdays 7:00 pm – 9:40 pm

This is the introductory game design class.  Learn the core concepts of game design and create non-digital games.

Game Design 3

Instructor: Nicholas Fortugno

Mondays 7:00 pm – 9:40 pm

The more advanced game design class for people who have already taken other game design classes before.

 

Currents: 8-Bit Game Production

Instructor: Kan Yang (Kyle) Li

Wednesdays 3:50 pm – 6:30 pm

Create 8-bit games, experience the constraints of designing for 8-bit systems, and learn entry level Assembly/C/Lua coding.

 

Collab: GENIGAME

Fridays 12:10 pm – 2:50 pm

Game designers and physical computing experts get together to create a physical game for the New York Hall of Science.

An undergraduate course that introduces the basics of games and game design.

 

Game Culture

Instructor: Kenneth M. Wark

Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:55 am – 1:35pm

An examination of all forms of games and gaming from an academic perspective.  This is an undergraduate course.
